The 16-week Friends & Fitness training program–FREE this year–incorporates a unique conditioning plan to help runners of all levels improve their performance. The program provides weekday (Monday & Wednesday- see Schedule) track and hill workouts; strength and core training that improve anaerobic base, speed, leg strength, and running form; and a weekend long run (Saturday- see Schedule) to steadily improve cardiovascular endurance and mental strength. In addition, the Friends & Fitness program provides its participants a “Run/Walk” option to allow runners the opportunity to challenge themselves while reducing the stresses placed on their bodies.
The majority of our runners end the program running one of the many local races, including the Montgomery County Parks Half-Marathon, Woodrow Wilson Bridge Half Marathon, Army Ten-Miler, or the Baltimore Half Marathon. But we’re also here if you just need weekly support to get off the couch!
